General Guidance for Staying Secure

Be alert to phishing and fraud

  • Never share personal or secure information via email or phone.

Verify authenticity

  • Hover over email links to check the true URL before clicking.
  • Type URLs manually or use official sources.
  • If entering sensitive data, ensure the site is secure (https:// and padlock).

Protect your devices and accounts

  • Enable automatic updates for operating systems and apps.
  • Install and maintain anti-virus and anti-malware software.
  • Use email services with anti-phishing and anti-spam protection (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, iCloud).
  • Review social media privacy settings regularly.
